Prosecutor: Registered sex offender living too close to Vandalia daycare

A registered sex offender in Vandalia is living within 1,000 feet of a daycare, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

A civil action filed in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court alleges that Jaime Isaac Lee Odom, 39, is violating Ohio law by living at 622 Kirkwood Dr.

The injunction brought by county prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. states that address is within 1,000 feet of Early Beginnings, a daycare at 622 Pool Avenue. Online maps show the two addresses less than two-tenths of a mile apart.

The court filing and county records indicate Odom is a Tier I registered sex offender whose victim was an adult in a case of gross sexual imposition for which he was sentenced in 2013.

The document also states Odom was served with a notice on March 30 by a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office detective.

The court asks a judge for a permanent injunction and restraining order to stop Odom living within 1,000 feet of a school or daycare.

Odom called this newsroom to say he has been in contact with the sheriff’s office and prosecutor’s office and is looking for a new place to live, but that his criminal past makes that difficult.

Court records show Odom has had two convictions for possession of cocaine and that he used to live on Benedict Road in Huber Heights.
