Suspect convicted in Hawthorn Suites officer-involved shooting

DAYTON —  A man charged in connection with an officer-involved shooting at the Hawthorn Suites in Miamisburg was convicted of with obstructing official business on Wednesday.

Richard Benton was one of three suspects arrested in January after police officers fired shots at the vehicle they were traveling in.  Antwaun Brown, the driver, and Shaun Hill were also taken into police custody.

The three men were wanted on arrest warrants.

Police planned to arrest the men as they got out of a vehicle, however the driver

steered the vehicle toward the arresting officers, according to police. Officers fired at the vehicle.

Brown crashed the vehicle into two unmarked police vehicles and in the direction of

multiple officers on foot. Brown stopped the vehicle after shots were fired.
