Dayton Children’s opening Springboro clinic

A retail clinic will open in Springboro Wednesday operated by Dayton Children’s Hospital.

Kids Express will open at 662 N. Main St., about a mile and a half from Dayton Children’s south campus. It will be staffed by a nurse practitioner, a patient care assistant and a receptionist.

The clinic staff can treat minor issues but aren’t for care that is beyond what a pediatrician treats in an office visit. It is not an urgent care or an emergency department.

Dayton Children’s Hospital, headquartered in downtown Dayton, has about $300 million in annual revenue and 3,000 employees.

The clinic is for children 6 weeks to 18 years old, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.

Deborah Feldman, president and CEO of Dayton Children’s, stated that parents are busy and need options.

“We wanted to give them an option for care that they can trust is kid-focused but is also easy and fast,” Feldman said.

Other local hospital systems have been investing in convenient health care options. Over the last year Premier Health built out a network of urgent care centers around the region. Kettering Health Network has a business deal with Kroger for 10 of its local Little Clinics to share information upon patient request and to give referral options to Kettering Health doctors if a clinic patient needs a primary care provider.
