Aggravated vehicular homicide charge filed in I-75 crash that kills Middletown motorcyclist

A driver has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in a Monday morning crash on Interstate 75 that killed a Middletown motorcyclist.

Anthony Dwuan Howard, 35, is held on $100,000 bond in the Butler County Jail.

Investigators said they believe Howard may have been impaired at the time of the crash, around 3:40 a.m. on southbound I-75 in West Chester Twp.

Motorcyclist Timothy Sharp, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Howard, of Cincinnati, also is wanted for an unrelated crime in Springdale in Hamilton County, online jail records show.

UPDATE @ 3:10 p.m.: Timothy Sharp died from multiple traumatic injuries and his death was ruled an accident, according to the Butler County Coroner's Office.

UPDATE @ 1:30 p.m.:

The Hamilton Post of the Highway Patrol has released the name of the motorcyclist killed this morning on Interstate 75 that slowed the highway for hours.

The accident occurred at 3:41 a.m. today on southbound I-75 in West Chester Twp.

A 2008 Acura, driven by Anthony Howard, 35, of Cincinnati, and a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle, ridden by Timothy Sharp, 51, of Middletown, were traveling southbound on Interstate 75, the post said.

Preliminary investigation shows the Acura struck the Harley Davidson in the rear. Sharp was pronounced dead at the scene by the Butler County coroner. Howard was not injured as a result of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol-Hamilton Post.

FIRST REPORT:

Southbound Interstate 75 in West Chester Twp. is a parking lot this morning following a fatal crash involving a motorcycle.

Dispatchers with the Ohio State Patrol said the crash, involving a motorcycle and two other vehicles, occurred at around 3 45 a.m. Monday.

The far left lane is now opened, but the back-up goes on for miles. Traffic traveling north was also backed up at the Union Centre Boulevard exit with emergency vehicles on the scene at that location.

Dispatchers had no other details.
