From classroom to prison: Timeline of ex-teacher in student sex case

A judge handed down a one-year prison sentence this week for a former Miamisburg teacher convicted of having sex with a 14-year-old in her middle school classroom.

The punishment for Jessica Langford doled out by Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Judge Timothy O’Connell came slightly more than a year after the conduct that a jury last month found the 32-year-old Centerville woman guilty of committing.

Here are key dates involving Langford and the Miamisburg City School District, according to records from the school district, police and court:

2008-2015

•Aug. 13, 2008 – Langford hired by the school district as sixth-grade teacher at Neff Elementary School after earlier serving as a student-teacher in the district.

•February (undated) – Memo from middle school Principal Kelly Thomas outlines nine concerns about Langford’s interactions with middle school students. Concerns range from male students eating lunch in Langford’s classroom to the teacher sitting on a male students lap and allowing students make “inappropriate and sometimes sexual comments towards her.”

•Feb. 2 - After reports that male students were continuing to come to Mrs. Langford’s classroom for lunch, Lenski sends Langford an email directing her to immediately discontinue that practice, and Lenski issues a verbal warning for Langford.

2017

•April 2017 – Middle school eighth-grade Principal Sommer Mastronardi speaks with Langford about appropriate boundaries with students. The conversation comes after the administrator said she witnessed a variety of non-curriculum activities occurring in Langford’s room, including the teacher playing basketball with several male students.
