Someone is stealing lights off Middletown’s holiday drive-through display and that has upset the Middletown Police Department.

Lights were reported stolen at Smith Park where Light Up Middletown is held every year. The display opened Thanksgiving and is open the rest of the year.

“So there is a real Grinch who is stealing lights from Light Up Middletown, which is one of the coolest things to do during our holiday season,” the police department wrote on its Facebook page. “People come from all over to see it. People work hard to put this together for you.”

The post said that if someone needs lights “that bad,” the police would help them get lights.

“If you’re stealing them to take them back up to your mountain overlooking Whoville, then stop!” the post said.

Police have added patrols to the park, they said.
