Home depot begins same-day, next-day delivery

The Home Depot will now delivery power tools, garden supplies and decor the same day they’re ordered.

The home improvement store has plans to expand delivery options over a five-year span, including its new same-day and next-day delivery in 35 metro areas, along with a free two-day option. The quicker delivery services start at $8.99.

"This is just the beginning of our expansion of improved delivery options, but it's a significant milestone in the way we're serving customers," said Mark Holifield, executive vice president of supply chain and product development.

Car and van providers Roadie and Deliv will deliver the smaller items.

Home Depot plans to continue expanding its supply chain network including a possible 100 new distribution sites.
