Profile by Sanford, a company that focuses on helping customers lose weight through one-on-one health and nutrition coaching and meal-replacement foods, is seeking to open three retail locations in the Dayton area and has signed a lease for its first storefront in the Settler’s Walk center in Springboro.
“We started construction just before Christmas, and we could be open by March 15,” Tom Hegge, the Dayton-area franchisee for Profile by Sanford, told this news outlet. The first store from the health-coaching weight-loss concept will be at 722 N. Main St. (Ohio 741), in the retail center that houses Dorothy Lane Market Springboro.
The 2,500-square-foot space previously housed Boro Bistro, which shut its doors in October 2018 after a 14-year run, the last eight in Settler’s Walk.

Hegge said although the retail storefront is not yet open, Profile by Sanford is enrolling new customers in the area and can provide “virtual” coaching and other services remotely while the new store is under construction.
“As far as I’m concerned, we’re open for business today,” Hegge said.
Profile by Sanford is a subsidiary of South Dakota-based Sanford Health, a non-profit health services company that operates 45 hospitals and 289 clinics worldwide. The affiliated Profile by Sanford utilizes retail storefronts to deliver nutrition and lifestyle coaching geared toward helping customers make healthy and sustainable changes to their lifestyle and diet that help them lose weight and keep it off, Hegge said.
The retail stores also sell a line of foods, including soups, entrees, protein bars, protein shakes and desserts.
Here’s how Sanford Health describes the program on its web site:
Profile was developed by some of Sanford’s top scientists, researchers, and physicians who were tasked with creating a healthy, safe, and personalized weight loss experience. A multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, nutritionists, exercise scientists and clinical psychologists came together to determine what kind of weight loss program would best fit the needs of a diverse population. With tens of thousands of members reporting positive experiences with Profile, we believe the results speak for themselves.
Profile’s Scientific and Advisory Board consists of some of Sanford’s top medical professionals who continue to oversee the development of the program.
Profile by Sanford is in the midst of an aggressive push to open franchises around the U.S. It operates 86 locations nationwide, with nearly 450 more planned to open in the next few years, including about 14 in Ohio, Hegge said.
One Ohio Profile by Sanford location is already open at 11314 Montgomery Road in Symmes Twp. in northern Cincinnati.
Bob Zavakos, senior vice president of NAI Bergman Commercial Real Estate Services, and Hegge said they are looking in the Beavercreek area for Hegge’s second Dayton-area franchise location.
In addition to its retail locations, Profile by Sanford partners with companies and organizations to provide wellness programs for employees, Hegge said.
