SNEAK PEEK: Here’s a look inside the new Samuel Adams tap room that opens today in Over-The-Rhine

***UPDATE***

Boston Beer Company founder and brewer Jim Koch was almost giddy Wednesday night as he welcomed the first guests to a sneak-peek event at his company's new 9,000-square-foot Samuel Adams Brewery Cincinnati Tap Room, located at the entrance to the Findlay Market in Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.

He was on familiar turf.

“I grew up here. My dad was a brewmaster here. My grandfather was a brewmaster here. So my family has been a part of Cincinnati’s brewing heritage for almost 100 years,” Koch said.

The new tap room is located directly across the street from the former Hudepohl-Schoenling brewery that has been brewing Sam Adams beers for the last 20 years. It houses its own small brewery on-site and an indoor fireplace lounge as well as a patio that will be open during warmer months.

The new taproom’s hours are 3 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It is closed Sundays.

“We’ve been dreaming of opening a taproom in the neighborhood since we purchased the brewery 21 years ago, so we could share our beers with local drinkers,” Jim Koch, founder and brewer of Samuel Adams, said in a release. “However, our main focus up until now has been to continue to improve and enhance our brewery capabilities. Now, I’m thrilled to see this dream finally become a reality.”

“Cincinnati is my hometown, with such a rich brewing history, and I’ve seen our city blossom as a craft beer mecca that is home to some of the finest breweries and taprooms in the country,” Koch said.

“The goal for our new taproom is to offer beer enthusiasts in the area a cool place to hang out while they enjoy some really unique and interesting beers made right here in Cincy,” Koch said in the brewery’s release. “I look forward to sharing a beer with our neighbors in a few months.”
