“It was a very hard decision to make, but I have been working a full-time job through this whole process,” Katie Wright, the candy shop’s founder, told this news outlet on July 5. “I've learned so much through this process and hands down, I would do it again.”

“What I will miss the most are all the families that became regulars who became like family,” Wright said. “It's sad to break this news, but I feel this is the right step for me right now.”

“I had a lot of fun opening and running The Oakwood Candy Shoppe as my first business. Oakwood has been very supportive and I couldn't have picked a better location! Right now, I plan on advancing in my full-time job.”

Wright said her candy shop will liquidate “all candy, soda, furniture and a refrigerator. I plan on having a sale on all product the last couple of weeks, but right now, people have been stocking up on their favorites that are hard to find.”
