New board president explains Springboro administrator raises

Board president Jamie Belanger said the 4.8 percent was equivalent to raises and step increases to teachers for years of service and educational attainment.

Superintendent Dan Schroer and Treasurer Terrah Floyd were approved for the the 4.8 percent pay increases and $10,000 annuities during the board’s last meeting of 2018. The amended contracts also gave Schroer and Floyd tuition reimbursement for one class a semester.

The amendments were made to contracts set in July. For Schroer, the changes were retroactive to Aug. 1.

The board unanimously approved the changes to Floyd’s five-year contract, but board member Lisa Babb cast the only no vote against Schroer’s three-year contract, just as she did in July.

Babb has questioned Schroer’s leadership and criticized the board’s evaluation process.

“Those concerns have continued for me,” she said in December.
