Springboro’s Crossroads: 5 things planned for city’s big intersection

Springboro officials and consultants continue to pore over responses to a survey asking what should be included in redevelopment at Ohio 741 and Ohio 73, also known as the crossroads of the city at Central Avenue and Main Street.

However, we know some of what is envisioned at the intersection, where $10 million in intersection improvements are under way and more than $4 million has already been spent by the city to revitalize the former Springboro IGA Plaza on the northwest corner.

1. The city is to have the Springboro Center for the Performing Arts built to anchor the site.

2. Restaurants, ideally including a Chick-fil-A, are also planned.

3. One-, two- and three-story buildings and approximately 76,000 square feet of retail and office space are to be included. The lower buildings would be closest to the intersection to complement the historic district, south of the intersection on Main Street. Taller buildings would be nearer the center.

4. A park and green space would be set aside for events and residents to socialize.
