A local woman is a contestant on this season’s ‘Survivor’

When viewers tune in to this season of the popular CBS television series “Survivor,” they will see a local face competing as one of 20 contestants for the $1 million grand prize.

Mason’s Angela Perkins will be one of the faces squaring off in the competition.

“Survivor: Ghost Island” was shot last summer in Fiji, and Perkins, 43, a military veteran who currently runs her own construction management company, is sure to be a tough competitor.

She was in New Jersey, “for the premier party with family and close intimate friends because I know that after this, it is going to be so fast and furious that I won’t be able to get away from Cincinnati,” she said.

Perkin’s has accrued a fan club that meets at Buffalo Wings and Rings in Mason, 5517 Kings Center Drive, on Wednesday nights as “Survivor” episodes air this season.

“They have stepped up and committed to a majority of the viewing parties, and I am going to attend most of them just because so many of the people want to enjoy them with me,” Perkins said. “They opened their arms and are going to let us use their facility every single Wednesday so people can come out there at any time.”

“I will be there,” Perkins said. “And Buffalo Wings and Rings is setting up the whole Ghost Island theme in the restaurant to give the consumers the whole entire ‘Survivor’ experience. They have really logistically nailed this, it is going to get bigger and bigger as the weeks go on.”

Perkins said there will be prize giveaways and opportunities for autographs and pictures as well as other fun activities planned at the watch parties.

“I want to see all of the fans come out and join us,” she said.
