1572 Roadhouse BBQ now open near Waynesville

The new restaurant called 1572 Roadhouse Bar-B-Q has opened its doors to the public on the grounds of the Ohio Renaissance Festival at 10542 E. State Route 73 near Waynesville.

The barbecue restaurant seats about 200 on its 3,200-square-foot covered deck, according to Chris Cavender, who oversees the restaurant.

Roadhouse Bar-B-Q’s menu includes Baby Back Ribs, Chicken, Pulled Pork, and Smoked Sliced Beef. It is open 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, which are “bike night,” and on Fridays; noon to 9 p.m. Saturdays; and noon to 8 p.m. Sundays. It is closed Monday through Wednesday. Craft beers and wines are available.

Plans call for the restaurant to be open seasonally, through the end of October or early November, Cavender said.

Cavender has operated the food-service operations at the Ohio Renaissance Festival for 19 years, and most recently served as executive chef at Sycamore Creek Country Club and, before that, at Jay’s Restaurant.
