A woman called the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center at 8:10 p.m. Thursday and reported that an unknown man tried to abduct her daughter, according to a press release.
“We just had a guy try to take our little girl,” she reported. “He pulled up in front of our house and got halfway into our garage and my husband came out and saw him and he ran away.”
The incident reportedly happened around 7:15 p.m.
The mother also posted about the incident on Nextdoor, a social networking website for neighbors, which triggered comments from worried neighbors.
“We want our residents to call us anytime they see something suspicious,” said Miami Twp. Police Chief Ronald Hess. “But, we don’t want anyone to make a situation worse by embellishing what happened on social media. It is very easy for social media sites to invoke panic and we want to avoid that from happening.”
Miami Twp. police responded to the scene and spoke to the parents about the incident.
The parents denied that an attempted abduction took place, according to the release.
The father did tell officers that he saw a man at the end of the driveway near the street, but he did not see the man enter the garage.
The daughter reportedly did not see anyone.
Officers did not find a suspicious man during their investigation, but added patrols in the area.
