Empowered Community Services CEO Joe Kowalski said the operators want to help people regain the skills they need to get back on their feet and make it easier to get help.
“We will be certified to provide adult day services, supportive employment, individual supportive employment and medical transportation,” he said.
The center will also offer gardening programs and domestic training to help people with disabilities become more independent.
Mariann Webb, who lives across the street from the new facility, said she also has experience in working with people with disabilities.
“I think it is needed in this community. I think it is needed in all communities that are lacking,” she said. “It is very important I feel.”
An open house is planned for the Empowered Community Services facility on Sept. 27 from 4 until 7 p.m. The operators plan to have the facility up and running by mid-October.
