Centerville to compile list of volunteers to rake leaves, shovel snow

Centerville is compiling a list of individuals, groups and organizations willing to volunteer to help the elderly and disabled city residents with leaf and snow removal, according to a release.

The list will be maintained by the city staff and will be available to residents. The city will also maintain a list of individuals and companies that perform those services for a fee, read the release.

“We know there are many older and disabled residents who are unable to rake leaves or shovel their walks,” said Centerville city manager Wayne Davis.

“Some residents can afford to pay for the service, but often do not know whom they can call. Others may not be available to afford the service, especially if it is an unusually bad winter season. We believe that the list will serve to assist those in need,” he said.

Once residents receive the list, they must contact someone and make necessary arrangements.
