Color guard instructor indicted for using counterfeit check to buy car


A man who worked with multiple area high schools’ band and color guard units was indicted for using a counterfeit check to purchase a car.

A Montgomery County grand jury indicted Omar Aguila, 23, on grand theft, receiving stolen property and forgery.

On Sept. 20, Aguila used a counterfeit check to buy an Audi from Express Motors in Dayton, according to court documents.

When he was taken into custody, he reportedly admitted to using a similar counterfeit check to buy a different vehicle from a dealership in West Chester Twp.

Aguila was also charged with forgery, grand theft of a motor vehicle and passing bad checks in Clermont County in connection with a June 17 incident.

He was working with Fairmont High School in Kettering as a marching band volunteer, but was asked not to return in October after the district learned of the charges.

Aguila also previously worked with Troy City Schools and Bellbrook High School.
