Car hydroplanes, causes crash with semi on I-70 East in Clark County

UPDATE @ 9:50 a.m.:

Weather conditions are being investigated as a factor in a crash between a car and semi that seriously injured one driver.

The crash was reported around 8:40 a.m. on Interstate 70 East, east of Interstate 675 in Mad River Twp., Clark County.

Investigators said a car hydroplaned and was hit by a semi. The driver of the car suffered serious injuries and was transported to Miami Valley Hospital. The driver of the semi was initially reported as trapped inside his cab but was not injured.

The crash blocked all lanes of the highway around 9 a.m. The right and center lanes reopened around 9:45 a.m.

FIRST REPORT

At least two lanes of Interstate 70 East are blocked east of Interstate 675 in Mad River Twp., Clark County following a reported crash involving a semi.

Crews were dispatched to the highway around 8:40 a.m. Monday on reports of a car that hydroplaned and was hit by a semi, according to emergency scanner traffic.

Initial reports indicate the semi driver is trapped inside his cab, but is not injured. The condition of the car’s driver was not immediately known.
