Police arrest local panhandler on bicycle for drug possession


A local panhandler was arrested for drug possession Tuesday afternoon.

Police received several complaints about an aggressive panhandler harassing people at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Allen Street, according to a Dayton police report.

Officers searched the Twin Towers area and apprehended Donnie K. Jones, 54, on his bicycle. Jones was found with crack cocaine in his right shoe and a metal tube in his left shoe, according to the report.

Jones was taken and processed at Montgomery County Jail. He is charged with drug possession, drug paraphernalia and criminal trespassing. He also had a warrant for assault and criminal trespassing, according to the report.
