Power restored to DP&L customers in Preble Co. after downed wires causes outage

UPDATE @ 2:30 a.m: Power has been restored to all customers in western Preble County after downed wires caused an outage that affected an estimated 1,435 customers at the height of the problem Tuesday night, according to the DP&L outage map.

The outages were focused in the area of New Westville, near the Ohio-Indiana border, east of Richmond and northwest of Eaton.

Outages were first reported just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to DP&L spokesman Kevin Hall.

Hall said crews were on scene, making repairs, and working to restore service, which had 0 customers affected at 2 a.m.

Why the wires came down will be examined once service is restored to all customers, DP&L spokesman Kevin Hall said.
