Those who work at the Fifth Third Center returned on Sept. 10, but Fifth Third employees have been directed to other entrances.

Fifth Third has created a community wall outside the lobby for the public to share messages of support, according to spokesperson Laura Trujillo.

"We have been heartened and overwhelmed by the kindness of our community," Trujillo wrote.

Three people were killed and two others were wounded when 29-year-old Omar Enrique Santa Perez entered the bank’s lobby with 250 rounds of ammunition in his briefcase and opened fire.

Police shot and killed Santa Perez through the glass windows of the lobby, ending the carnage.

The two wounded victims were 37-year-old Whitney Austin, a Fifth Third Bank vice president, and Brian Sarver, a senior project manager for CBRE. Both Austin, who was shot 12 times, and Sarver have been released from the hospital.

The Fifth Third Foundation announced last week that it partnered with the National Compassion Fund and National Center for Victims of Crime to donate $1 million to victims of the shootings, WCPO reports.

"Money raised through this effort will benefit people harmed in the shooting," a company spokesperson wrote in a news release. "This includes families of person who were shot as well as those who experienced physical injuries or psychological trauma as a result of the incident."

Fifth Third will hold a brief memorial service for employees at 9 a.m. as well as a moment of silence at 9:06 a.m.
