Church fire forces Montgomery County GOP to change location of Sheriff Streck’s formal appointment

The First Grace Brethren Church that caught fire Sunday afternoon is expected to resume normal operations, according to the fire department.

A light caught fire, fell and damaged a pew, the department said. This resulted in about $2,000 in damages.

FIRST REPORT:

A fire in the sanctuary of a church forced the Montgomery County Republican Party to change its meeting location to formally appoint Sheriff Rob Streck.

Emergency crews responded to the fire at the First Grace Brethren Church, located at 2624 Stonequarry Rd., in Butler Township on Sunday at noon.

“We have a new meeting location for today due to a fire. We are meeting at the Aullwood Aubudon Farm at 9101 Frederick Pike,” according to the Montgomery County GOP.

The cause of the fire was electrical and started in the sanctuary, the pastor of the church said.

No one was hurt but a pew was damaged, he said.

The extent of damage is not known at this time.

The Montgomery County Republican Party meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m.
