Fire causes substantial damage to several units at Dayton motel

UPDATE @ 12:25 p.m.: 

Multiple units at the Plaza Motel in Dayton were damaged after a fire broke out Friday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the hotel at 1728 Stanley Avenue around 11 a.m. and found heavy smoke and flames coming through the roof of the building, fire officials said.

At least 11 units sustained substantial damage due to the fire, according to officials. Natural gas and electric service was cut to the building after the fire was contained.

The cause of the blaze is unknown and under investigation, according to Dayton fire officials.

Damage is estimated between $40,000 and $50,000, but could increase, officials said.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters are battling a fire in the attic of the Plaza Motel on Stanley Avenue in Dayton Friday morning.

Multiple crews were dispatched to the motel at 1728 Stanley Avenue around 11 a.m. and reported smoke coming from the building.

There have been no immediate reports of injuries.
