Greater Dayton Association of Black Journalists to hold forum on black adolescence

The Greater Dayton Association of Black Journalists (GDABJ) will hold a free forum July 26 to discuss how growing up black can affect one’s adolescence, according to a GDABJ press release.

The forum, moderated by GDABJ President and Dayton Daily News Columnist Amelia Robinson, is set to have a handful of panelists, according to the release.

The event will be held at Cox Media Center, 1611 S. Main St. from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Bakari Lumba, Higher Education Ph.D. Candidate at Ohio State University

Frazier Smith, Breaking News Team Manager for Cox Media Group Ohio

Amaha Sellassie, Community Activist 

Sean Walton Sr., Youth and Outreach Director at Grace United Methodist Church

The forum will have the panelists speak, and then a Q&A session for the audience, according to the release.

This discussion is an extension of the National Association of Black Journalists Male Media Project: an initiative to paint a complete and positive picture of the lives of black men in media and society, with nationwide workshops that began June 10, according to the NABJ website.

GDABJ wishes to extend the discussion after the forum by sharing information and resources with attendees, according to the release.
