Has your polling place changed? It has for thousands in Montgomery County.

Polling locations for thousands of Montgomery County voters have moved for the May 8 primary, according to elections officials.

The location changes will affect more than 5,500 registered voters, according to Montgomery County Board of Elections records.

“It’s typical we oftentimes have to change locations during the election cycles,” said Jan Kelly, Montgomery County Board of Elections director.

The voting precinct boundaries in Montgomery County have not shifted since the last election, according to elections officials.

Kelly said in two cases this year, buildings are being demolished or renovated — both at the Wilmington-Stroop Branch of the Dayton Metro Library in Kettering and St. Helen School in Riverside.

Voters in six of the county’s precincts will cast ballots at new locations, while voters in two other precincts will vote at the same spot, but the buildings have been renamed since the last election.

Here are the precincts and locations affected:

Precinct: Phillipsburg

Former voting location: Phillipsburg United Methodist Church

New voting location: Phillipsburg Municipal Offices

Former voting location: Providence Lutheran Church

New voting location: Brookville Branch Library

Precinct: Kettering 2-A

Former voting location: Wilmington-Stroop Branch Library

New voting location: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church

901 E. Stroop Rd, Kettering

Precinct: Riverside I

Former voting location: St. Helen School

New voting location: Community United Methodist Church

339 Meyer Ave., Riverside

Precinct: Riverside J

Former voting location: St. Helen School

New voting location: Saville Elementary School

5800 Burkhardt Rd., Riverside

Name changes:

Two voting locations, one each in Jefferson Twp. and Miamisburg have new names.

For some voters, Liberty Town Hall is now Jefferson Twp. Fire Station 59, while the Miamisburg Learning Center is renamed Community Learning Center.

About 30 days before the election, registered voters affected will receive a postcard detailing the changes, said Jan Kelly, Montgomery County Board of Elections director.

The deadline to register to vote is April 9.
