Hundreds pay tribute to Montgomery County homicide victims at annual service

Hundreds of people Monday night remembered those lost to violence during the 28th annual Homicide Victim Memorial Service.

The service at Westminster Presbyterian Church in downtown Dayton, sponsored by the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office, is to help survivors through the holiday season.

The service includes a presentation of ornaments to a special memorial tree and a balloon launch, with many of the balloons carrying memorial or inspirational messages from survivors to those who have died, according to the prosecutor’s office.
