The new Dunkin’ Donuts shop on Far Hills Avenue north of Whipp Road — built as a customer-friendly, tech-savvy “next-generation” Dunkin’ store — could open as early as this Sunday, Dec. 30, the operations director of the store’s franchisee said today, Dec. 27.

Workers are putting the finishing touches on the new store, which will have a “soft opening” for several days before a grand opening and ribbon cutting that is scheduled for the morning of Jan. 8.

Rob Beil, director of operations for the Dunkin’ division of the Gilligan Company, led a “sneak peek” tour of the new store this morning.

Beil said the new re-designed store prototype puts customer needs first, including a second drive-through window for those who have already ordered and paid through the Dunkin’ app and a multi-tap system that dispenses cold beverages.

Franchise owner Pat Gilligan, the franchise owner for  Dunkin’ Donuts throughout Dayton and southwest Ohio, is slowly but steadily making good on a promise he made in 2013 to open as many as 13 new doughnut shops around the Miami Valley. The Far Hills store is the sixth in the Dayton-Springfield market for Gilligan, joining Kettering, Centerville, Sugarcreek Twp., Riverside and Springfield. A Miami  Twp. store near the Dayton Mall is operated by another franchisee.
