Kettering war memorial error will be fixed, city says

The city of Kettering says it will fix an error on a war memorial at Delco Park. The large stone display on the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France refers to "Operation Overload." In fact,the invasion was actually dubbed "Operation Overlord." 

A city spokesperson told News Center 7 they are aware of the error and will have it corrected.

The Kettering Veterans Memorial and Charles Kettering History walk was funded by private donations to the Kettering Parks Foundation. The foundation partnered with the city to help develop a concept for the design.

The project cost was estimated to cost $350,000 when concepts were designed in 2014 and it opened to the public last Veteran’s Day.
