Local cities preparing roads for weekend storm

News Center 7 reporter Caroline Reinwald was at the Centerville Public Works department today as they prepared for the possibility of snow on the roadways this weekend.

Centerville has plenty of salt left in their salt storages this year, but the city has also started to pre-treat roads with a mix of ice-be-gone and brine.

City representatives told us that the pre-treatment allows the later applied salt to be more effective and gives crews more time to apply the salt.

We also talked with some businesses in the area who said that their amount of customers has been negatively impacted by the recent snow and threat of winter storms.

Jessica Denny of Julie’s Hair Attractions and Nails stated, “They're kind of over it. they have a hard time getting out and some of them have been canceling because of the weather and afraid of what's to come.”

We will have more information about road preparation from cities around the Miami Valley on News Center 7 beginning at 5 p.m.
