Monroe approves reconstruction for Butler Warren Road

The Butler Warren Road reconstruction and overlay project is moving forward after Monroe City Council on Tuesday approved entering a contract with Barrett Paving Materials.

The city received four bids on the project, with Barrett Paving Materials being the apparent low bidder with a bid of $122,851, according to City Manager William Brock.

The project includes the full depth reclamation of the portion of Butler Warren Road from Nickel Road to the corporation limit. It will also include the overlaying of additional asphalt on top of these base repairs from Nickel Road up to Mason Road.

City officials say they are doing this to extend the life of this section of the road until the large widening project takes place sometime in the future when it connects to Gateway Boulevard.

Monroe’s Public Works crews completed repairs of several large base failures on Butler-Warren Road last winter and early this spring.

The city is planning to submit this project for Motor Vehicle Permissive Tax dollars to both Butler and Warren counties for funding.

Barrett Paving Materials is also the contractor that was the low bidder for the annual resurfacing contract this year as well.
