3 restaurant closings that shocked Dayton this month

In case you missed it, here’s a quick round-up of the restaurants that have closed:

1. Blue Note Jazz Club

The Blue Note Bistro & Lounge in downtown Miamisburg has closed.

Julie Delph's other business, the Miami Valley Sports Bar, is secure and will continue operating under her ownership, Delph said, while she re-structures the sports bar's debt.

Speaking of the Blue Note, Delph said, “I gave it a good fight ... (but) I have no choice. ... Hopefully somebody will buy the Blue Note and continue its tradition.”

2. McAlister’s Deli

A deli that opened 13 months ago at the Dayton Mall has shut its doors, although a Facebook post by its owner suggests a new location could be coming in the spring.

"We are sorry for any (inconvenience), but this McAlister's (Deli) is closed," a sign taped to the restaurant's entrance advised potential customers today, Oct. 20. "Please visit one of our other locations on Miller Lane or by the Fairfield (Commons) mall."

A McAlister’s Deli Dayton Facebook page post said the Dayton Mall location would be “relocating Spring 2019” but did not offer further details.

3. Max & Erma’s

Max & Erma’s restaurant at 6390 Miller Lane in Butler Twp. closed permanently Oct. 28.

It is one of three remaining Max & Erma’s in the Dayton region.

The building the restaurant is housed in is now listed for sale or lease by listing agent Robert Zavakos of NAI Bergman commercial real estate.

The restaurant employed about 40 people.
