Warrant issued for suspect in shooting at Dayton party venue

UPDATE @ 6 p.m. (March 28): An arrest warrant has been issued in the March 13 shooting at Dee Jay's Party Room on Hoover Avenue.

The warrant for 33-year-old Paul Michael Vaughn was issued two days after the shooting, according to the Dayton Municipal Court Criminal Division. Vaughn is being sought on a single count of felonious assault.

Dayton police have said that according to their investigation, Vaughn shot a man at least seven times.

That victim, Freddie Langston, has been released from Miami Valley Hospital, a nursing supervisor said Wednesday evening.

Daaron D. Williams, 27, jailed on or about March 14 in connection with the incident, is no longer listed as a Montgomery County Jail inmate. Police have not said how they think he is involved in the incident.

Williams was released from London Correctional Institution on March 12 after serving three years for felonious assault. According to online records, he is supposed to be under supervised parole in Montgomery County for three years, beginning March 12.

Langston and a woman were shot at the party room, 4919 Hoover Ave., about 1:15 a.m.

The woman, listed in a Dayton police incident report as Ashia Brown, suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening, a Dayton police sergeant said the night of the incident.

According to police, the potential suspect is a male who was in attendance at the venue.
