Patty Brady looks with pride at a multi-drawer dresser, nearly as tall as she is. The dresser is smooth with a fresh grey coat of paint and stands stoically in the corner of Olde 2 New, Brady’s store.

“It used to be bad, like really bad,” Brady said. “Just ugly and falling apart. But we took some time with it and really put it back together. That’s what reconditioning is all about.”

Olde 2 New is a new antique and reconditioned furniture and decorating consignment shop that has opened at 23 E. Main St., in downtown Lebanon.

Brady and Kathy Crane are the co-owners of Olde 2 New and life-long best friends. The two began assembling and refurbishing older “junked” furniture a couple years ago as a hobby, which soon grew into a business passion.

“We needed something to do and we found refurbishing and re-purposing old furniture to be a lot of fun,” Brady said. “We got a booth at an antique mall for a while, but we always had it in mind to open our own business sooner rather than later.”

Brady said that she and Crane had dreamed of opening a store in Lebanon and believe they had found the perfect spot in Olde 2 New’s new digs.

“We loved the quaint atmosphere of Lebanon and there is a strong market here for what we carry,” Brady said. “I think we both looked around and felt like business was coming back to the area and we could put a store together quickly here.”

Brady and Crane completely redecorated the store in a matter of 10 days, Brady said, adding some new paint and creating the old-time ambiance that suits the classic items they sell.

“We look everywhere for things we can re-purpose and put in the store,” Brady said. “We’re always going to garage and yard sales looking for things. Our families have really helped out in giving us things to work with as well.”

Brady said the best part of owning their own business, besides being able to set their own hours, is the unique people they meet and the stories behind many of the pieces of furniture and decorations they come in contact with.

Crane said the store is always accepting new pieces to sell on consignment. People can either bring the item in or email a picture of the item to olde2newconsign@gmail.com.

“Please bring it in,” Crane said. “We’ll be happy to help you sell it.”
