The trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop when the car took off, leading troopers on a brief pursuit.

The pursuit ended in the area of Waynetowne Boulevard behind a building in the area, Nichols said.

The driver of the car fled on foot while the passenger remained in the car. The passenger was briefly detained but has been released with no charges expected at this time, Nichols said.

The driver fled into a wooded area, prompting a search involving several Huber Heights officers, K9s and a state patrol aircraft, Nichols said. The search was called off about an hour after the pursuit ended without locating the suspect.

Nichols said they believe they know who the suspect is and will look to identify and file charges.

No injuries were reported.
