CRUISER CAM: Teen, 14, hits building during Dayton chase

Cruiser camera footage showing a 14-year-old boy fleeing from police before he crashed into a building on North Main Street was released Wednesday.

According to Dayton police, the car was reportedly stolen at gunpoint from the Shell gas station on West Third Street Sunday night.

Police spotted the stolen car around 3:30 a.m. Monday and attempted to stop it, but the driver drove away and a pursuit started.

Speeds reached up to 70 miles per hour during the chase, which lasted approximately three minutes, before the teen crashed into an empty building on North Main Street, officials said..

The driver was immediately taken into custody following the crash as police surrounded the car with guns drawn, the cruiser camera footage showed.

Police said the teen’s charges would be confirmed pending an investigation by detectives.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office assisted Dayton police in the pursuit.
