Public comments sought on expansion of Greene County biodigester farm

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is hosting a public hearing on plans to expand operations at a Greene County farm where wastewater from counties and municipalities is turned into fertilizer.

The March 22 hearing comes as Dovetail Energy LLC has requested approval for a permit to upgrade its biosolids digester facilities at Pitstick Farm, 1146 Herr Road, in Bath Twp.

Residents have complained about the smell that comes from the farm, where material from wastewater treatment plants is trucked in and turned into rich fertilizer for raising crops.

Ohio EPA is looking to record public comments on the project as it is considered for the permit.
