Dayton police responded to four businesses since midnight:

  • J J Fish & Chicken at 2905 Salem Avenue
  • Dollar General at 2312 North Main Street
  • Domino's Pizza at 1800 North Main Street
  • Church's Chicken at 2443 N. Gettysburg Avenue

In all the Dayton break-ins — except for Church’s Chicken — a man used a brick to break windows and enter the businesses, according to police incident reports.

The owner of J J Fish & Chicken told investigators his surveillance and alarm system captured images of the man committing the crime and around $1,000 was stolen from the business’ safe, officers detailed in a report.

Managers of both Dollar General and Dominos reported a man attempted to break open safes in back offices, according to police. In both break-ins it was not clear if anything was taken from the businesses.

Police believe the suspect entered Church’s Chicken through the previously damaged drive-thru window. A blunt object was reportedly used to try and break into the safe, which had scratch marks.

Dayton police noted only in the incident report for Dollar General that the suspect matched the break-in report from J J Fish & Chicken.

We’ll continue to update this page as new details become available.
