Shots fired in I-75 road rage report

Dayton police are investigating an alleged road rage incident during which shots were fired and a vehicle was rear-ended, according to the report.

A Dayton man was northbound on I-75 at North Main Street around 3:26 a.m. Monday morning when a black Cadillac reportedly pulled beside him and fired shots.

The man ducked and braked hard, according to the report, resulting in a third vehicle hitting him from behind.

No injuries were reported.

Police located a single bullet hole in the front passenger seat that went through the front passenger door, according to the report. The bullet reportedly appeared to have entered through the left rear door.

The man did not recognize the Cadillac or the man who shot at him, according to the report, but did note an earlier incident.

When the man entered I-75 from U.S. 35, the black Cadillac was in the lane next to him, read the report.

The man sped up to pass the Cadillac so that he could merge onto the highway, but then the Cadillac also accelerated, according to the report.

The man reportedly sped up again and passed the Cadillac.

Approximately a half mile later, the Cadillac pulled up beside him and rolled down the window before firing multiple shots, according to report.

The woman driving the third vehicle did not report seeing gunshots or a black Cadillac.

Police searched the area for bullet casings, but none were found, read the report.
