The FBI and CIA warn consumers about using cell phones made in China

The FBI, CIA and other intelligence agencies are warning consumers about using smartphones from Huawei and ZTE.

In a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Tuesday, intelligence chiefs said they would advise Americans against using products or services from the Chinese smartphone makers, according to CNBC.

Intelligence leaders are concerned about security risks with Huawei and ZTE, due to alleged ties with the Chinese government, according to PC world.

Huawei had attempted a partnership with AT&T in the U.S but if fell apart, and a bill is being considered to prevent government agencies from using Huawei phones, according to The Verge.

In September, Huawei surpassed Apple to become the second largest smartphone brand in the world, behind top-ranked Samsung.
