West Chester Twp. officials are hoping to reunite a memorial Christmas ornament with its owner after it was found on a holiday tree dropped off for recycling.
The silver ornament is engraved with the words “In Loving Memory MOM 12-9-13”.
It is believed to have been left on a Christmas tree taken to Keehner Park in January for recycling. Workers inspect the trees to assure everything is off the branches before turning them into mulch.
Occasionally ordinary ornaments are found, according to Barb Wilson, spokesperson for the township. But those who found this ornament that is in memory of a loved one thought its owner would it back.
“My thought was the person may not know it was missing until next Christmas when they got out their decorations,” Wilson said. “Not like other things, like a phone, that they would notice they lost right away.”
So after a few months in the lost and found box at the township, Wilson said a photo of the ornament was posted on the township’s social media accounts on Mother’s Day.
The owner has not yet been found, she said.
The ornament says “Merry Christmas from Heaven” on side and “In Loving Memory MOM 12-9-13” on the other.
Anyone who recognizes the ornament may call Andrew Reeder, public relations coordinator for the township, at 513-759-7301.
