Cars separate from CSX train in Dayton

UPDATE @ 6:35 p.m.

Some of the train cars separated from a train passing through Dayton, a CSX worker said.

The train is more than two miles long.

It’s not clear how some of the cars became disconnected, but before the train could move again a railroad worker said they had to inspect each car.

Some of the cars are hauling hazardous material, which led the Dayton Fire Department to respond as a precaution.

FIRST REPORT

A train is leaning to its side at railroad tracks near Dayton Children’s Hospital.

The incident was reported shortly before 5:45 p.m. near Chapel Street and Madeira Avenue.
