VIDEO: Surveillance of suspect tied to three Dayton robberies released

Police released surveillance video of a suspect tied to three armed robberies committed late Tuesday night.

The suspect robbed multiple people between 11 and 11:30 p.m., with two robberies in the Oregon District and a third nearby, according to police.

Cash, credit cards and wallets are among the items taken at gunpoint.

People who frequent the area said the incidents are ridiculous.

“I think it’s pretty stupid,” said Roger Plassenthal, of Dayton. “No upbringing. No respect. It all comes down to respect.”

No one was injured during the incidents, according to police.

Business owners and employees in the area said the robberies take away from the food, art and fun for which the neighborhood is known.

“It’s a bummer because so many people want to come down here, have a good time and not have to worry about things like getting robbed,” said Josh Goldman, manager of Blind Bob’s.

Police said that they are not seeing a trend of armed robberies in the area and that the incidents appear to be committed by the same person.

The suspect is a white man wearing glasses who stands between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 10 inches and weighs about 160 pounds.

The Oregon District robberies were at Brown Street near East Fifth Street and the 600 block of East Fifth Street, and the third incident was at the 1700 block of East Third Street.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect or incidents is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 937-222-STOP.
