Woman hit by car in Springfield suffers ‘severe’ leg injury

A woman was hospitalized after she was hit by a car in downtown Springfield Monday afternoon.

Springfield Police Sgt. Jerry Montico could not release the name of the victim but said she was hurt in the accident.

"She had a pretty severe lower leg injury," Montico said.

The woman was trying to cross Main Street when the car turned from Limestone Street, he said.

The victim was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center and plans were to transfer her to Miami Valley Hospital, he said.

It is still unclear who had the right away, Montico said, and the crash remains under investigation

One person has been injured after they were hit by a vehicle on North Limestone Street in Springfield Monday afternoon.

Police and fire crews responded to the intersection of North Limestone and East Main streets around 1:50 p.m. after the crash was reported.

Initial reports indicate the victim suffered a compound fracture in the crash and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
