A woman inside the home told police Simmons entered the home, grabbed a pair of scissors and wouldn’t allow her to leave the bedroom, the report read. The woman said she “felt fearful” for her life while she was being held in the bedroom.
When police responded to the residence, they heard an “active disturbance” in the home, according to a police report. Another woman let police in the home and police found Simmons holding onto a woman. Police grabbed his arm and escorted him to the front porch, the report read.
While on the porch, Simmons and an officer were “tussling” and Simmons pushed the officer away. They both fell off the porch that had no railing. The officer grabbed Simmons’ torso, but he escaped and started kicking the officer and breaking his radio microphone, the report read.
The officer pulled his radio off his belt and used his handheld and notified dispatch that Simmons was running northbound on Panama Street. Because of his knee injury the officer was unable to chase after Simmons, the report read. The officer was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his knee injury.
Simmons was located a short time later in the 1600 block of Winona Drive.
He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Aug. 20 in Middletown Municipal Court.
