AF Marathon runners can showcase preparations in new video contest

The Air Force Marathon is holding its first-ever video contest. The contest will give creative runners a chance to show off their videography skills and detail their preparation for the Air Force Marathon.

“We wanted to do something different this year to really give our runners a chance to show off their creative side,” said Rick Perron, the race’s marketing coordinator.

To enter, runners need to produce a 1- to 2-minute video showing their preparation for the Air Force Marathon while covering their motivation and experience with the marathon. Another required element is the runner looking into the camera and saying, “My name is _______ and I am the Air Force Marathon.”

Entries may be shot with any kind of camera, including cell phone cameras. But they must be shot in a horizontal or “landscape” orientation. Videos shot in vertical “portrait” orientation will not be accepted. Full contest rules and information, including an example video, are available at www.usafmarathon.com/videocontest.

Finalists will be selected by the Air Force Marathon staff and posted to social media where anyone can “vote” for the winner with likes. First-, second- and third-place winners will receive prize packages, including complimentary registrations, VIP “Pro packages,” New Balance gift cards and more. Submission will be accepted through May 31, and the winner will be announced June 15.

The Air Force Marathon, presented by Northrop Grumman, USAA and Boeing, will be Sept. 15. The Sports & Fitness Expo is held at Wright State University’s Nutter Center Sept. 13-14. The event will also feature a gourmet pasta dinner and Breakfast of Champions Sept. 14.
