School safety event Niraj Antani scheduled to be apart of postponed

Miamisburg schools announced today the school safety event Rep. Niraj Antani and other local groups were scheduled to be apart of has been postponed.

“The Community Meeting to discuss school safety and security that was scheduled for Thursday, March 22, 2018 has been postponed,” the district posted on its website.

The district did not provide a reason for the cancellation, but added a post will be made when the event is rescheduled.

Miamisburg High School will host a community meeting next week about school safety.

The forum set for March 22 will involve police departments from the city Miamisburg and Miami Twp. It is designed as an opportunity for community leaders to listen to their constituents’ comments, concerns, and suggestions regarding school safety, according to state Rep. Niraj Antani’s office.

The meeting comes at a time when local school officials have a more heightened concern for security in the wake of last month’s mass shooting at a Florida school.

Seventeen students and staff members died and dozens of others were injured Feb. 14 during the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.

The Miamisburg meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in The Commons of the high school, 1860 Belvo Road.
