Miamisburg bridge opens early, can accommodate school buses

A Miamisburg bridge closed for renovation and to bolster its weight capacity has re-opened.

The Twelfth Street bridge, which has been unable to accommodate school buses over Sycamore Creek, is now open to traffic, according to the city.

Work on the bridge, located a few yards from the Miamisburg City Schools transportation facility, will now permit school buses to use it, city Engineer Bob Stanley has said.

The bridge closed this summer and was scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. Work was completed earlier than expected, according to the city.

The city’s cost of the project for bridge near Ethel Avenue was about $160,000, and it received nearly matching funds from the Ohio Public Works Commission, records show.
