Miamisburg driver due in court to face OVI after police officer hit near I-75

A Miamisburg man charged with drunk driving and suspected of striking a Miami Twp. police officer with his vehicle last month is set to appear in court this morning.

Adam Blackmore, 33, was charged April 23 with OVI, failing to proceed with due regard/safety and failing to drive in marked lanes, according to Miamisburg Municipal Court records.

He pleaded not guilty to all three charges, records show. Those counts stemmed from what authorities said involved an April 21 accident in which Miami Twp. Officer Tyler Simpson was injured while his was cruiser stopped on an Interstate 75 exit ramp as he was assisting with a crash near Ohio 725.

Authorities said Blackmore sought to veer around a cruiser. Instead, the Miamisburg driver’s pickup truck clipped Simpson, adding to the chaos from crashes reported on I-75 southbound that led to a highway traffic jam lasting nearly five hours, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
