Miamisburg police officers involved in shooting Dayton fugitive back to work

Two Miamisburg police officers involved in the shooting of what authorities called a federal fugitive from Dayton are back at work.

Miamisburg Police Chief John Sedlak said both officers – only one of whom fired a weapon in the wounding the Indiana armed robbery suspect outside the Byers Road Red Roof Inn April 3 – have returned to duty.

The identities of the officers – who were assisting Indiana authorities at the time of the shooting — have not been released.

The officer who shot at Jeremy Watson returned to restrictive duty April 12, and remains on that status. The other officer came back to full-duty the following day, Sedlak said.

The officer wounded Watson, 38, “multiple times” in the left leg after the suspect pointed a “fully-loaded” weapon at police, Sedlak has said.

Watson remains in the Montgomery County Jail, where he was booked April 7 on a probation violation and where he is being held on a federal detainer after being arrested by U.S. marshals, according to the jail’s website. Montgomery County court records show no charges against Watson for the Miamisburg incident.
